Railways abolished more than 72,000 posts in 6 years
Indian Railways has abolished more than 72,000 posts in the last 6 years. According to official documents, during this period, the Railway Board had sent a proposal to abolish 81 thousand posts to all zonal railways. But now it has been decided that more than 72 thousand posts of railways will never be recruited in future.
As per the available documents, all the abolished posts belong to the Group C and Group D categories, which have now become non-essential due to increased use of new technology in railway operations. Let us inform that the employees currently working on such posts are likely to be absorbed in various departments of the Railways.
Posts had to be terminated due to digitization
According to railway officials, these posts had to be abolished because railway operations have become modern and digital. According to official documents, 16 zonal railways have abolished 56,888 ‘non-essential’ posts during the financial year 2015-16 to 2020-21. Apart from this, the Railway Board has approved the abolition of 15,495 more posts in the same period.
North-South Railway abolished so many posts
Apart from this, Northern Railway has eliminated more than 9,000 posts. At the same time, South Eastern Railway has eliminated about 4,677 posts. Southern Railway has eliminated 7,524 and Eastern Railway has eliminated more than 5,700 posts.
9,000 more posts to be abolished
Sources said a work-study of the employees for the financial year 2021-22 is in the final stages. It is expected that after the completion of the process, about 9,000 more posts will be eliminated. According to sources, due to increasing outsourcing in the Railways, the number of sanctioned posts is also decreasing.
