Uttarakhand : Yellow alert issued for Kedarnath Yatra due to rain, two passengers died due to heart attack

In view of the forecast of the Meteorological Department, the district administration has issued a yellow alert regarding Kedarnath Yatra. Devotees/tourists arriving at other tourist places including the Yatra have been appealed to take shelter at the halts in the event of rain. Along with this, the officials related to the journey have been instructed to be alert.

From May 16 to 20, forecast of strong rain with lightning, wind has been issued by the Meteorological Department for Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts. District Magistrate Mayur Dixit said that keeping in mind the weather forecast, vigilance is being taken regarding Kedarnath Yatra. The pilgrims coming to the Dham have been asked to travel with utmost caution.

He has directed NDRF, SDRF and police force to be on alert mode along with departmental officers related to the yatra. Told that the operation of the yatra would be planned if the Rudraprayag-Gaurikund highway is disrupted due to rain and other reasons.

Two passengers die of heart attack
Two passengers who came on Kedarnath Yatra have died due to heart attack. The police have sent the body for post-mortem after filling the Panchnama. 18 passengers have died in 12 days of the journey. On Monday late night, the health of Madan Mohan Chaudhary (81) resident of district Khadia, Bihar suddenly deteriorated in Lincholi on Kedarnath foot road. He was brought to the nearest MRP. At the same time, Bal Krishna Mahadev (62), who had come to see Baba in Kedarnath, died due to difficulty in breathing. It is being told that the passenger was also suffering from asthma and suffered a heart attack due to difficulty in breathing. After filling the Panchnama of both the bodies, the police have sent them to the District Hospital Rudraprayag for post-mortem.
