Shock to Delhi government from High Court, ban on door step ration delivery

The Delhi government has got a setback from the High Court. His door step ration delivery scheme has been banned by the High Court. Let us inform that earlier Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal had also asked the Delhi government to send a proposal to the Center for its door-to-door delivery of ration.

Earlier in October last year, the Delhi High Court had given conditional permission to implement the door step delivery scheme of ration in Delhi. There was a conflict between the Kejriwal government and the Lieutenant Governor for a long time regarding the door step delivery scheme of ration. The Kejriwal government was adamant on implementing the door step delivery scheme of ration, while the LG and the central government were against it.

Actually, the Delhi High Court had approved the Delhi government to provide ration to the people at home. The High Court had said that there should be no shortage of ration in the shops at a reasonable rate. The High Court had directed the Delhi government to inform all fair price shops about cardholders who have opted to get ration at home.

The court had said that after this the fair price shopkeepers will not be required to supply ration to those beneficiaries of the Public Distribution System (PDS). Those who have opted to get ration at home. In such a situation, there will be no need to send ration of such people to these shops. The bench of Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Jasmeet Singh had said that therefore we have amended our order given on 22 March 2021.
