Uttarakhand : More than 5000 passengers stranded due to the collapse of Yamunotri Highway, somehow the night was spent in buses in the midst of cold

The blocked road near Ranachatti on Yamunotri National Highway was opened for small vehicles after 16 hours. The highway is expected to open for large vehicles by Thursday evening. The road to open the highway continued from Wednesday night. At night, the administration completely closed the movement of all vehicles on the route.

Let us inform that on Wednesday night, 15 meters of Yamunotri Highway near Ranachatti, 25 km before Yamunotri Dham, collapsed. Only small vehicles could pass through here. Vehicular movement had come to a standstill.

The number of stranded passengers from Ranachatti to Janki Chatti is more than 5000. Most of the passengers are in Janki Chatti. But there is nothing in the name of convenience in Janki Chatti. In Janki Chatti, commuters are facing problems for toilets and water facilities. Apart from this, most of the passengers have spent the night in some way in the buses amidst the cold.

Hoteliers help stranded passengers

At the same time, passengers are also facing the impact of inflation in Janki Chatti. Many hoteliers also helped the stranded passengers in Janki Chatti. Local citizens allege that no cooperation has been received from the administration to help the passengers.

Former BJP District General Secretary Sandeep Rana said that the stranded passengers remained very upset on Wednesday night. The passengers have somehow spent the night in the buses. Sandeep Rana said that no facility has been seen from the administration at Janki Chatti, Kharsali and other stops.

The team is busy in making the highway smooth

District Disaster Management Officer Devendra Patwal told that the team of National Highway Authority of Barkot section near Ranachatti is busy in making the highway smooth. The road is being widened by cutting the hill. It’s taking a while because of the rock on the top of the road.

More than 1200 passengers returning to Barkot after visiting Yamunotri Dham are stranded between Ranachatti and Jankichatti due to road blockage. Barkot police station inspector Gajendra Bahuguna said that 24 big buses and 17 mini buses of passengers are stuck between Rana Chatti to Jankichatti. They have been stopped at Jankichatti, Kharsali, Phoolchatti, Krishnachatti, Hanumanchatti stops.
