Uttarakhand / Nainital : Beautification of historic Bawan Dat Canal, DM inspected
The restoration and beautification work of the historic Bawan Dat Canal is being done in Fatehpur area. For this, DM has approved an amount of ₹ 78 lakh from the district plan. District Magistrate Dhiraj Singh inspected the work of the canal. During this, the district officer said that soon the work of the canal will be completed.
The District Magistrate directed the working organization to complete the construction work with transparency, taking special care of quality and standards. Along with this, it has also been asked to clean the canal as soon as possible. So that the local public can get the benefit of tourism and the general public can understand its importance. Beautification of the historic Bawan Dat canal. Ka 52 Pillar was built around 1904 during the British period. There are fifty-two pillars in this canal. Due to which it has been named as Bawan Dat. The length of this canal is around 1 kilometer. This canal goes from Fatehpur to Lamachaur. Due to this many villages get water for irrigation. The specialty of 52 pillar canal is that it was built during the British period. Due to this, dozens of villages get sufficient amount of water for irrigation during rainy days.
