Dragon stunned by Biden’s Asia visit, started military exercises in the South China Sea
China is conducting military exercises in the disputed South China Sea during the visit of US President Joe Biden to South Korea and Japan. His visit is largely focused on countering the potential threat from China. The Chinese Maritime Security Administration office in the southern island of Henan province said the exercise, which began on Thursday, will last until Monday.
It said other aircraft and ships would be prohibited from entering the area, but did not give details. China claims the South China Sea and the crucial sea route has become a potential point of conflict in Asia.
The US has not taken a stand on the issue of sovereignty but insists on free movement at sea and moving warships near militarized islands held by China in that region.
He describes it as freedom of shipping operation. China regularly describes such missions as deliberately provocative actions. He says that this endangers peace and stability.
