You must have heard about being challaned for riding a bike without wearing a helmet. But now despite wearing a helmet, your challan can be deducted. This challan will also not be any small but will be of 2 thousand rupees. You must be surprised to read this but it is true. The Union Ministry of Road Transport has notified its revised rules.
1 thousand challan for wearing helmet without ISI mark
As per the rules of the ministry, only BIS-certified helmets for two-wheelers are allowed to be manufactured and sold in the country. That is, you have to wear only ISI mark helmet while driving bike-scooter. If you are found wearing a helmet of substandard quality or without ISI mark while driving a two-wheeler, then under section 194D MVA of the Motor Vehicle Act, you can be fined 1 thousand rupees.
1 thousand rupees fine even for not wearing helmet
Not only this, even if you have not worn a helmet by tightening the bandage that binds it to the head, even then you can be fined 1 thousand rupees. Overall, understand this in such a way that if you leave the house without wearing a helmet with ISI mark and do not even tie the bandage of that helmet, then despite having a helmet on your head, your challan of Rs 2 thousand will be deducted. No matter how many arguments you give to the traffic policemen, but the challan will come in your hands in a few seconds.
These rules were also made for the safety of children
The Union Ministry of Road Transport has recently made changes in some of its rules keeping in mind the safety of children. According to the new rules, it will now be mandatory for them to use special helmets and harness belts while transporting children on two-wheelers. This belt prevents children from falling on the moving bike-scooter. Along with this, the speed of vehicles has also been fixed at 40 kmph for traveling with children. Failure to do so can result in suspension of driving license for 3 months as well as fine of Rs 1,000.
