Uttarakhand / Almora : The patient is admitted to the base but is rushed to the district hospital for blood

Medical college has been established in the district headquarters to provide better health facilities to the people on time, but people are not getting health facilities on time. Patients are admitted in the base hospital of the medical college but there is no blood bank facility for them. Patients have to run two and a half kilometers away to the district hospital for blood.

After the establishment of the Medical College at the District Headquarters, the Base Hospital has also been made under it. Patients from all over the district reach the base hospital for treatment. Some of these are emergency cases in which blood is needed for treatment. Similarly, in the treatment and surgery of pregnant women, blood is needed for the patient. There is a blood bank for the patients here but it is not operational yet. The relatives of the patients have to arrange blood from the district hospital.

The capacity of the blood bank here is 350 units, out of which blood is supplied to women’s hospital and base hospital as well as private hospitals. In the base hospital alone, 50 to 60 units of blood are required every month for the patients. In this too, the demand for blood of A, O and B groups is highest. According to the norms, there should be a blood bank for the patients in the medical college so that the needy patients can get blood on time. This facility is not available to the patients in the medical college. It is also not clear how long the blood bank will be able to operate here.

Operations are interrupted due to lack of blood
In the Base Hospital of the Medical College, pregnant women as well as TV patients are admitted. Many cases also come for surgery. In most of these cases, blood is needed for the patient. Patients suffer due to lack of blood bank. Sometimes the patient’s life is also in danger due to the delay in receiving blood. Many times, the problem also arises due to not getting the blood of the same group as per the need.

Base needs maintenance
The Base Hospital under the Medical College also needs maintenance. Here the roof of the meditation ward is broken. In many places the chairs for the patients are also bad. Sometimes doctors are not available to the patients here on time, due to which both the time and money of the patients coming from far away is wasted. There is also no ramp facility to take the patients.

A blood bank has been established in the medical college but there is no doctor in the hospital to operate it. According to the need of the patients, blood is arranged for the patients from the district hospital. Efforts are being made to operate a blood bank here soon.
