Uttarakhand : 96213 voters of Champawat will decide the fate of the Chief Minister, voting will start from 7 am

The fate of four candidates, including the Chief Minister, will be locked in the EVMs in the by-elections to be held on Tuesday in the Vidhan Sabha. Here 96213 voters will exercise their franchise. Of these, the number of male voters is 50,171 and the number of female voters is 46042. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who lost the assembly election from Khatima seat, is contesting the by-election here. Congress’s Nirmala Gahatodi, SP supported candidate Manoj Kumar alias Lalit Mohan Bhatt and independent Himanshu Gadkoti are in front of him. Voting will be held from 7 am to 5 pm. The administration has completed all the preparations for peaceful and fair elections.
District Magistrate and District Election Officer Narendra Singh Bhandari said that 151 booths have been set up in the Vidhan Sabha for voting. All 151 polling parties have been sent for these booths. On Monday, 135 polling parties left for the destination. Whereas on Sunday, 16 parties from remote areas were dispatched. On Monday, District Magistrate and SP Devendra Pincha briefed the security personnel along with the polling parties. The District Magistrate directed to conduct the elections in a fair and peaceful manner.
The SP also directed the personnel deployed in security to implement the information given in the training on the ground. The DM said that the voting will be held from 7 am to 5 pm. No voter will be allowed to enter the booth premises after 5 pm. Only those voters who have reached the polling booth and are standing in the queue will get the opportunity to vote after 5 o’clock. The District Election Officer said that 32 booths have been kept in the sensitive category. The security of these booths has been handed over to SSB and PAC.
Will be a public holiday
In the upcoming by-election, there will be a public holiday in the entire assembly constituency. Markets and banks will also remain closed. The purpose of the public holiday is to give the opportunity to vote to the people working in all government, non-government and private companies and establishments. In order to increase the voting percentage. Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram had also issued orders on the previous day to conduct the by-elections peacefully. According to the order, the voting process for the by-election is to be held on May 31. An appeal has been made to the people to observe it as Bandi Day instead of a weekly holiday. District Election Officer Narendra Singh Bhandari said that all the people from the Vis area are working in the outer districts. A holiday has been declared for such people on Tuesday.
