Uttarakhand : BJP’s anger on the objection of the university on the cold road

BJP leaders have raised questions only on the objection of geologists of HNB Garhwal Central University on the approved cold road in the city. BJP’s say that the place which geologists are telling sensitive, the university itself has done construction work. Why was it not thought of then?

The dream project of Cabinet Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat is to be constructed from the hill above the city. Its survey has been done four times. Recently, the geologists of Garhwal University have raised objections to the alignment of the road by sending a letter to Lonvi. Geologists have described the above site as the landslide affected area and harmful for medicinal plants grown for the last three decades.

Senior BJP leader Atar Singh Aswal, former municipal president Mohan Lal Jain and BJP Scheduled Front’s state working committee member Kushalanath have raised questions on the attitude of the university. He said that Garhwal University has constructed guest house, approach road and residential colony in the area. Apart from this, there are also non-government buildings here. When these construction works were going on, why did the university not think about the landslide. Objecting to the cold road is not fair. Instead geologists should make suggestions for safe construction.

We are not against any development work. We were asked for a survey. The report is given after the survey. The GSI (Ground Survey of India) also gave a similar report. Due to the damage caused in the past, this place has been described as sensitive. -Pro. Yashpal Sundriyal, Geologist, Garhwal University, Srinagar
