India made a world record by building a road, 75 km long road built in 105 hours 33 minutes, Gadkari said – the whole country is proud

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has created a world record. Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has announced that NHAI has made its place in the Guinness World Records. Rajpath Infracon Pvt Ltd and Jagdish Kadam, consultants and concessionaires to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) have decided to cross the same lane on National Highway 53 (NH-53). This record has been achieved for manufacturing the longest piece of bituminous concrete for 75 km continuously. The road has been built on a part of NH-53 between Amravati and Akola districts of Maharashtra.

Congratulating the entire team, Gadkari tweeted, “Proud moment for the entire nation! Our exceptional team of NHAI, Consultants & Concessionaires, Rajpath Infracon-Pvt Ltd & Jagdish Kadam on achieving the Guinness World Record for Laying 75 Km Continuous Bituminous It gives me great pleasure to congratulate. Concrete road in one lane on the part of NH-53 between Amravati and Akola. I especially thank our engineers and workers who took the day to achieve this extraordinary feat. Worked hard at night.

The team started construction of the road on June 3 at 7:27 am and completed the construction of the 75 km distance at 5 pm on June 7, in a record time of 105 hours 33 minutes. About 800 employees of NHAI and 720 employees of Rajpath Infracon including independent consultants were involved in this project. 75 km of single lane road is equivalent to 35 km of two-lane paved shoulder road.

Talking about the importance of the newly constructed road, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said, “Amravati to Akola section is part of National Highway 53, an important east-west corridor. It covers Kolkata, Raipur, Nagpur, Akola, Dhule, and connects major cities like Surat. It passes through mineral rich region of our country. I am told that about 65 percent work has been completed on this section from Amravati to Akola and from Akola to Chikli section. The achievement will bring great relief to the passengers, ease of transport and reduce travel time.

Earlier, a Guinness World Record was set for longest stretch of bituminous concrete for a continuous 27.25 km road, which was achieved by the Public Works Authority, Ashghal, Qatar on February 27, 2019. This road was part of the Al Khor Expressway. And it took 10 days to complete it.
