Madhya Pradesh: Brother committed suicide by jumping into cousin’s pyre, girl’s body was found in a well
An 18-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide by jumping into his cousin’s pyre in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district. The police gave this information on Monday. Baheria police station in-charge Divya Prakash Tripathi said that the incident took place on Friday evening in Majhguwan village of Baheria police station area. The deceased has been identified as Karan (18), a resident of Dhar district.
Missing cousin
Police say that the reason behind the boy’s suicide is not yet known. His 21-year-old cousin had gone missing on Thursday evening after leaving the house to bring vegetables to the field, he said. When she did not return, the family started a search. Tripathi said that the villagers saw the girl’s body in the well and informed the police.
Brother jumped into the burning pyre
Baheria police station in-charge said that after receiving information about the death of his sister, Karan had come to Sagar on a motorcycle from Dhar, 430 km away. Karan allegedly jumped into the burning pyre during the last rites of the girl on Friday evening, the official said. Some villagers immediately dragged him out but he died on the way to the hospital. He said that the police is investigating the incident by registering a case.
