Rahul Gandhi was bombarded with questions inside the ED office, Congressmen shouted outside
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case. Rahul reached the ED’s headquarters at APJ Abdul Kalam Road at around 11.30 am. ANI quoted ED sources as saying that Gandhi’s statement was recorded under Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). In the first round, Rahul was questioned for more than three hours. After this he was allowed to go out for lunch. During this, Rahul along with his sister Priyanka reached Sir Ganga Ram Hospital to see mother Sonia Gandhi. Sonia was admitted to the hospital on Sunday due to difficulties related to COVID-19. The ED has also summoned him for questioning.
Rahul was questioned and answered by ED’s deputy director, assistant director level officers. According to sources, in a phased interrogation, the ED first put personal questions to Rahul. Then there were questions related to property and financial transactions. Rahul may also be asked questions related to Young India and Associated Journals Limited in further inquiries.
