A case of catch-up marriage has come to light from Begusarai district of Bihar, where a veterinary doctor was abducted and forcibly married. An official gave this information on Tuesday.
According to the information, Satyam Kumar Jha, a resident of Pidhauli village of Teghra police station area, had gone for the treatment of cattle on Monday afternoon, when some people kidnapped him and forcibly got him married to a girl.
Satyam’s father Subodh Kumar Jha said, “When Satyam did not return home till evening, we started looking for him. He did not return even in the night. On Tuesday morning, a video clip came on my phone in which my son was sitting with a girl and getting married, Jha said, adding, “We have lodged a written complaint with Teghra police station in this regard.” At the same time, the SHO of the police station said, we have received a complaint related to the caught marriage, which is being investigated.
Let us tell you that kidnapping for marriage, which is known as Pakadwa or forced marriage, is still done in many districts of Bihar like Lakhisarai, Jamui, Munger, Patna, Begusarai, Nalanda, Khagaria, Bhagalpur and Banka.
