Uttarakhand / Vikasnagar : Fire in Khodri Power House, 30 MW turbine burnt to ashes
A massive fire broke out on Wednesday afternoon at Khodri Power House in Himachal, adjacent to Vikasnagar Kotwali area in Dehradun district. Within no time the fire took on a frightening form. At the same time, fire brigade vehicles had to be called from Dakpathar and Selakui in Uttarakhand to control the fire. After about three hours of hard work, the fire was brought under control.
Himachal’s Khodri Power House is adjacent to the border of Uttarakhand, where a sudden fire broke out at around one o’clock on Wednesday afternoon. The fire was so severe that it destroyed the transformer and the BNBT panel of the 30 MW turbine of the dam project.
Due to the fire in this turbine of 30 MW capacity, it is estimated that the loss of more than five crore rupees. At the same time, no casualties have been reported in this incident. Prima facie it emerged that the fire had started due to a technical fault. For the time being, the power generation will not be affected by this incident, as the quantity of water can be used to operate three machines. Even if the transformer takes more time to repair, the availability of adequate water in the rainy season will not affect it. Four machines of 30 MW each have been installed in Khodri Power House.
