Big action in Uttarakhand, Ram Vilas Yadav arrested in disproportionate assets case, CM suspended

On the instructions of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, IAS Ram Vilas Yadav, accused in the disproportionate assets case, was arrested late night after he was suspended. On the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, after 12 o’clock, the Vigilance interrogated Yadav vigorously and after that he was arrested. In Uttarakhand, bureaucrats have been accused in the past, but this is the first time that an IAS officer has been arrested on charges of corruption.
CM Dhami took action to suspend him on Wednesday evening for not cooperating in the investigation against Yadav, who was serving as Additional Secretary in the Social Welfare and Agriculture Department. Earlier, the High Court had ordered him to appear before the Vigilance, after which the Vigilance started the process of questioning him from around 1 pm on Wednesday, 22 June, which continued till 12 pm on Wednesday night.
It is being told that the way Yadav gave answers to the Vigilance team, they were not found satisfactory. He was finally arrested late in the night around 2 o’clock. Similarly, about a week before he retires on June 30, this big action against Yadav is causing a sensation and many fragrances in the entire bureaucracy. It is worth mentioning that Ram Vilas Yadav is accused of earning 500 times more than the income i.e. about 500 crore rupees.
Now what can be done next?
It is believed that the Vigilance team will present Yadav in the court and demand to take him on remand so that further interrogation can be done. Here, Yadav’s lawyer can file a bail application by taking refuge in the High Court. The picture will soon be clear regarding the further action, but this big action has caused an earthquake in the politics and bureaucracy of Uttarakhand.
Let us tell you that Yadav was earlier in the bureaucracy of Uttar Pradesh and the UP government had also got his vigilance probe done. But even before the arrival of this investigation report, he had come to his Uttarakhand native cadre. The UP government had written a letter to get the Uttarakhand government investigated against Yadav, who came to the IAS cadre after getting promoted from PCS. After this, raids were also conducted on Yadav’s locations in UP and Uttarakhand.
