The condition of the textile market is fragile, traders are sending back the goods purchased due to recession

At present, the atmosphere of recession is being seen in the textile market of Surat. In such a situation, due to the recession, the quantity of goods coming back to the traders has increased. In view of the wedding, traders from other states bought saris and material in large quantities, but due to less purchase in the retail market, traders from other states returned the goods. Also with a large number of parcels arriving, most of the transport warehouses are full and as a result transporters no longer have space to store new parcels. On the other hand the goods of Surat traders are returning. The condition of the transporters has worsened due to refusal to accept the goods and to return the old goods.

According to sources related to the textile industry, in the hope of good business in weddings after Corona, traders from other states had given big orders to the traders this year, but due to many reasons, the retail market remained weak in both the saree and dress segment. In such a situation, about 3000 parcels are being returned daily from all the states. Some traders from other states are returning goods without informing the Surat traders. With a large number of parcels being returned every day, the warehouses of the transporters are full and now they are in dire straits with no space to store new parcels. Transporters say that most of the traders of Surat are not even ready to accept the parcel. Due to this, parcels going from Surat are lying in transport.

In this regard, the president of a Surat-based Textile Transport Association said that traders from other states are returning most of the goods purchased two months ago, because the business in the retail market was not as expected. There is no space for new parcels in the warehouse which receives more than 3000 parcels daily. Some traders of Surat are also refusing to take the goods. The retail market in both sarees and dress material has been weak in the current year.
