60 grain ATMs approved for Uttarakhand, ration will be available without line

There is good news for the consumers who take ration from government cheap grain shops. World Food Program (VIKHAKA) has sanctioned 60 grain ATMs for Uttarakhand under Annapurti Yojana. Earlier the state was given only one ATM as a pilot project. With the installation of these ATMs, ration card holders can take their quota of food grains at any time according to their convenience instead of queuing in the shop. The State Government has received the acceptance letter of the grain ATM from Eric Knefick, India’s Deputy Country Director of World Food Programme. When contacted, Food Secretary Sachin Kurve confirmed this. Kurve said that the DSOs of all the districts are being instructed to mark the locations for setting up grain ATMs. Vikhaka has also praised the state for the seriousness shown in setting up the ATM, which was found as a pilot project. The first ATM is being set up in Dharampur.

This is how Annapurti machine works

This system is like an ATM machine. It will also have a screen like an ATM machine. This machine will be attached to large size storage drums. The ration card holder will come here and put his thumb at a fixed place. Once the thumb is scanned, the complete details of the card holder will appear on the screen. After this, the value of grains in the machine will have to be deposited in cash or online. Then you have to put your bag on a hole made in the machine. In a stipulated time, the machine will give the card holder the grain fixed for him. Food Secretary and Commissioner Sachin Kurve said, “The approval of 60 Annapurti ATMs from Vikhaka is a big achievement for Uttarakhand. The first food grain ATMs received as a pilot project will be made operational within this month.
