A New Delhi-based dealer working with a global trading firm said, “There are many countries that can supply wheat to Bangladesh, but the major issue is the price. Bangladesh will initially buy small quantities of Russian wheat and if everything goes well from payment to shipping of wheat, it will increase wheat procurement.

Difficulties in buying wheat from Russia

Bangladesh will benefit from buying wheat from Russia, but there is still doubt between the two countries regarding the process of procurement. Western countries and America have imposed sanctions on Russia for the invasion of Ukraine, due to which it is not able to trade in dollars. On this, the Bangladesh government official said, ‘All issues including payments will be discussed in the meetings. Let’s see what happens.’
