Eknath Shinde will be the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis surprised everyone by announcing the name of Eknath Shinde in a press conference. Devendra Fadnavis told that Eknath Shinde will take oath as the Chief Minister at 7.30 pm. Fadnavis said that we met the governor and staked claim to form the government. The governor has given us the time of 7.30 pm. Fadnavis said that I will be outside the government and will do whatever is needed to make this government successful.

BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis said that Shiv Sena MLAs were demanding that the alliance with Congress and NCP should be terminated, but Uddhav Thackeray ignored these MLAs and gave priority to MVA alliance partners, so these MLAs raised their voice.

Fadnavis said that the people had not given majority to the Mahavikas Aghadi. BJP was the single largest party after the election. BJP-Shiv Sena had contested the elections in alliance, but Shiv Sena formed the government with the help of Congress and NCP. During this, Shiv Sena also put the views of Balasaheb Thackeray on hold.

Who is Eknath Shinde

Eknath Shinde has been associated with Shiv Sena since the beginning and is currently an MLA from the Pachpakhadi assembly seat of Thane. Eknath Shinde has been elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for 4 consecutive terms in 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2019. Balasaheb Thackeray had a great influence on Eknath Shinde too. He had joined Shiv Sena in the 1980s. In 2004, Eknath Shinde contested from Thane assembly seat for the first time and won with a huge majority.

Uddhav had resigned

CM Uddhav Thackeray had to prove his majority today, but he tendered his resignation on Wednesday itself. A special session of the assembly was called today after Governor Koshyari ordered the Uddhav government of Maharashtra to prove its majority, but the Shiv Sena went to the Supreme Court, terming the order unconstitutional. But the court also talked about proving the majority and forming the government, after which Uddhav Thackeray submitted his resignation.
