Fourth wave in July-August! Experts’ warnings started to scare, symptoms of corona changing with new variants

With the increasing cases of COVID, many patients have complained of symptoms of diarrhea and high fever. A study is being conducted to understand the pathological features of this new pattern of infection. The burden of this study has been entrusted by BMC to the dedicated Seven Hills Hospital of COVID. This study is going to be done as part of the preparation to deal with the new wave of COVID. Experts have feared the fourth wave of corona to come in the month of July or August. With this apprehension, a recent genome sequencing report has found sub-variants of Omicron in 99 percent of the samples. Not only this, most of these infected patients have got symptoms unlike the previous waves. In the second wave when the delta variant was out, most of the patients were suffering from respiratory problems. However, since the advent of mutated Omicron variants, intestinal diseases and high fever have become more common in patients.

Study will tell how to deal with new symptoms
Keeping this new trend of symptoms in mind, Seven Hills Hospital has decided to conduct a study on the admitted patients. This study is being done on the patients admitted here since May 15. Dr. Smita Chavan, Deputy Dean, Seven Hills Hospital, said that the virus keeps on changing and the pattern of infection also changes. That is why it is important to understand how these changes are taking place at the level of epidemic. He told that we will do a study on the profile of the patients and the symptoms associated with them. For now, the cases are decreasing. With the help of this study, we will be ready to deal with new symptoms.

In the changing patterns of infection, it is important to understand how these changes are at the epidemic level. At present, the cases are decreasing, but we will be more able to deal with this epidemic with the help of studies on patient profiles and symptoms.

Infection rate increased, but situation better
Dr. MC Mishra, former director of AIIMS, says that the cases and infection rate of COVIDhave been increasing gradually since May, but still our situation is better. At this time the virus is not dangerous, there is not even a new serious variant. There are not too many patients in the hospitals. Those who are getting infected are experiencing common symptoms like fever, cough, weakness. But of course it is very important for us to follow the COVID protocol. Whenever you go out, you must have a mask, sanitizer with you. If you can avoid going into the crowd, then avoid it. If you have not taken the vaccine, then definitely take it. And if a booster dose is yet to be taken, take it soon. We must understand that even if we do not avoid getting infected with vaccines and booster doses, we can definitely avoid getting seriously ill.
