Uttarakhand : Heavy rain alert in six districts for the next five days, roads blocked the path of pedestrians in the state

With the onset of monsoon in the state, the period of heavy rains has also started. In the last 24 hours, there has been heavy rain and moderate rain in all the districts including Doon, Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Almora, Pauri Garhwal, Champawat, Rudraprayag, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Bageshwar, Haridwar, Tehri Garhwal. The highest rainfall was recorded in Mohkampur area of ​​Doon at 113 mm, which is the highest in the entire state. At the same time, the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains and moderate rains in the state for five days. In view of this, a yellow alert has been issued. According to Vikram Singh, Director of Meteorological Center, while there is a possibility of heavy rain in Doon, Nainital and Bageshwar in the next 24 hours, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Doon, Tehri, Pauri Garhwal, Nainital and Champawat on Tuesday and Wednesday. There is a possibility of heavy rain on July 7 in Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Nainital, Doon, Tehri, Pauri Garhwal, Champawat. Within the last 24 hours, 113 mm of rain was recorded in Mohkampur in Doon, 74.50 in Mussoorie and 46 mm in Rishikesh. The water level of rivers has also started rising rapidly due to torrential rains.

165 closed roads in the state blocked the path of the passers-by

In the state, 84 roads were closed on Sunday as against 81 roads that were closed a day earlier. In this way a total of 165 closed roads blocked the way of the passers-by. Out of these, only 29 roads were successful in opening from morning till evening. Maximum 142 roads connecting villages to district headquarters are closed. It has also increased the difficulties of the villagers. On Sunday, the active landslide zone at Sirobgad in Chamoli became active several times, but with the help of JCB machines present on the spot, the work of clearing the debris continued.

In this way, this national highway leading to Badri-Kedar was blocked several times. Apart from this, no national highway is closed. Apart from this, 13 major roads, seven district motorways, five other district roads, 69 rural roads (civil) and 73 roads in the state are closed under PMGSY. JCB machines are working diligently to open the closed routes on Sunday. A total of 226 JCBs have been deployed on 78 on National Highways, 13 on State Highways, 12 on District Roads, five on Other District Roads, 66 on Rural Roads and 52 on PMGSY Roads.
