Jaishankar raised the issue of LAC, Chinese Foreign Minister said – ‘Improvement’ is visible in India-China relations
India on Thursday demanded early resolution of all pending issues along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) from China. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, during his meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, pressed for completing the withdrawal of troops to restore peace in the border areas. During this, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met his Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar that China and India’s ties are showing “progress towards improvement” as the two countries maintain dialogue and manage their differences effectively.
During the hour-long bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Conference in Bali, Jaishankar apprised his Chinese counterpart of the need for early resolution of all pending issues along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. Emphasizing that bilateral relations should be based on mutual respect, mutual sensitivity and mutual interests.
Wang said that since March this year, China and India have maintained dialogue and exchanges and effectively managed their differences. He said bilateral relations have generally shown “progress towards improvement”. The Chinese Foreign Minister said that China and India have common interests and common legitimate claims.

With regard to bilateral issues, Wang said that China and India should take practical action to implement the important consensus reached between the leaders of the two countries that “the two countries are not threats to each other, but allies.” …” Wang also said that the two countries should insist on getting their bilateral ties back on track as soon as possible, state-run Xinhua news agency quoted a press release issued by the Chinese Foreign Ministry here as saying.
Referring to the apparently independent stance of the two countries on the Ukraine issue, Wang said the world was undergoing a massive change that was not seen in the past century. He said that in such a situation, major countries like China and India will definitely not go with the flow, but will achieve their respective development according to the established goals and contribute more to the future of mankind.
Earlier, when asked about the Jaishankar-Wang meeting, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said in a media briefing, “We have read India’s press release about the meeting. All I can tell you is that at this time India The situation in the China border area is generally stable.”
“China and India are each other’s important neighbours. We have the ability and willingness to protect peace and stability in our border areas,” the spokesman said. Meanwhile, in New Delhi, the Ministry of External Affairs said Jaishankar also reiterated the importance of fully adhering to the bilateral agreements and protocols and the understanding reached between the two ministers during the earlier talks.
“The External Affairs Minister called for early resolution of all pending issues along the Line of Actual Control in Eastern Ladakh,” the ministry said in a statement. This was the first meeting of the two foreign ministers since Wang visited India on March 24 and 25. The border standoff between the Indian and Chinese armies started on May 5, 2020, after a violent clash in the Pangong Lake area.
