Cement came from Nepal for the first time in India, businessmen of neighboring country excited by the new market
For the first time in the history of India, cement has come from Nepal. The neighboring country has started exporting cement to India from Nepal and the first consignment of 3,000 sacks of cement has arrived in India through a check post bordering Uttar Pradesh. Palpa Cement Industries in Nawalparasi district of Nepal has sent the first consignment of cement to India from Sunauli border for the first time in history on Friday 8th July.
Nepalese businessmen excited by opening of Indian market
Pulpa Cement Industries produces cement under the brand name of Tansen. Pulpa started exporting cement to India after completing all government procedures including quality standards checks. The arrival of cement in India for the first time has encouraged five other Nepalese cement companies to export. The Nepal government has given a subsidy of eight percent for cement exports in the budget, due to which the businessmen of Nepal are excited about exporting cement to India.
Nepal’s cement industry faces problems due to lack of market
According to the Nepal Cement Producers Association, Nepal has the potential to export cement worth 15 thousand crore Nepalese rupees (9424.91 crore rupees). Nepal’s cement industry is facing problems due to lack of market despite huge potential but according to Shekhar Aggarwal, executive director of Pulpa Industries Limited, Nepalese cement can now compete with international brands after exports to India. Keshav Bhandari, president of Navalparasi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, says that export of cement to India along with government subsidies will help boost the country’s economy. According to Jeevan Niraula, PR manager of Pulpa Industries, which sent cement to India for the first time, the Navalparasi plant has the capacity to produce 1800 tonnes of clinker and 3,000 tonnes of cement every day.
