A debate has erupted over the statement of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on World Population Day. Yogi Adityanath had given this statement regarding the increasing population of the country. He had described the population imbalance as a matter of concern. This statement was given a religious colour. The statement of BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has come amid the growing debate about this. Naqvi has said that population explosion is not a problem of any religion, but of the country. It is not right to associate it with religion and caste.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has made a tweet about this. In this, he has written with folded hands – The huge population explosion is not a religion, it is the problem of the country. It is not fair to associate it with caste and religion.

Amidst the debate on the statement of UP CM Yogi Adityanath, the former Union Minister has expressed his opinion. On the occasion of World Population Day, Yogi had expressed concern over the population imbalance. He had said that when we talk about family planning, we have to keep in mind that the population control program should go ahead successfully. However, the situation of demographic imbalance should also not arise.

Yogi said that we all know that for the last five years, mass awareness programs are being run across the country regarding population stabilization. Population on a certain scale is also the achievement of the society, but this achievement is only when the society can achieve the state of health and wellness. After this statement of Yogi, a debate broke out. An attempt was also made to give it a religious color.

India will overtake China in terms of population during 2023. Union Minister Giriraj Singh Chouhan also advocated for the population law on Monday. On the occasion of World Population Day, Giriraj released a video statement and shared it on Twitter. Singh, who represents the Begusarai Lok Sabha seat in Bihar, lamented that in the last three decades, India had lagged behind China in economic growth, but had overtaken its neighboring country in population growth.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi’s statement comes at a time when he has recently resigned from the central post. His term of Rajya Sabha has ended. There is speculation that Naqvi may be made the candidate for the post of Vice President.
