First case surfaced in the country, guidelines issued in view of monkeypox

The Union Health Ministry on Thursday sent a high-level multidisciplinary team to Kerala to assist the authorities in dealing with the situation. Earlier, Kerala Health Minister Veena George had said that a 35-year-old man who had returned to the state from abroad was admitted to the hospital after he showed symptoms of monkeypox. The central team sent to Kerala consists of experts from the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, New Delhi and senior officials of the Ministry of Health as well as experts from the Regional Office of Health and Family Welfare, Kerala.
