Uttarakhand / Vikasnagar: 8 lakh theft revealed in Herbertpur on June 28, one arrested

An accused has been arrested while disclosing the theft of 8 lakhs in Herbertpur on the night of 28 June. Along with this, stolen goods have also been recovered from his possession. The goldsmith to whom the accused had sold the jewelery is absconding. The police have scanned the footage of several CCTV cameras to uncover the theft.
Baljit Singh, son of Apar Singh, a resident of Herbertpur, had given a complaint at the Vikasnagar police station on June 29 in the police station. Baljit Singh told that he had gone out with his family to get his mother treated. When he returned home at around 10 o’clock on the night of 28, the jewelery and cash were stolen from the house by unknown thieves. Taking immediate action on this, the police team raided the goldsmith’s shop told by the accused, then the shopkeeper fled from there. The police have seized the goldsmith’s shop through the local police.
Vikasnagar police station in-charge Ravindra Shah told that the passbook of the bank has been recovered from the possession of the accused, in which 2 lakh 20 thousand rupees were deposited in theft. Also bought an Activa and a 25 thousand phone for ₹ 80 thousand stolen. The account in which the accused deposited the money is in the name of his wife.
According to the police, about 15 cases are registered against the arrested accused in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. Information about the criminal history of the accused is also being collected from other districts. Police said that the accused will be produced in the court.
