Due to the continuous rain in the mountains, the water level of the river drains has also started increasing, in view of the red alert, the general public has been advised to stay away from the river and drains, while on the other hand, the Kumaon commissioner has directed all the district officers and police administration to stay away from the river. And instructions have been given to put up signage on the banks of the drains so that the general public can be prevented from going there.
Despite this, a warning has been issued to the people living on the banks of the Gola river and people living in the low-lying areas, besides the jail police have been instructed to be on alert mode in the Gola barrage for 24 hours so that any kind of accident can be avoided. To prevent, the red alert given by the Meteorological Department in Nainital district on July 20 has proved to be correct.
