Maharashtra : Uddhav Thackeray was ready to form government with BJP by shunning Eknath Shinde, but nothing was done

When Eknath Shinde took oath as the Chief Minister in Maharashtra on June 30, a lot happened behind the scenes before that. What happened before the Shinde-BJP coalition government was formed in the state is now slowly coming out. According to Deepak Kesarkar, spokesperson of Shiv Sena’s rebel MLAs’ faction, talks between Uddhav Thackeray and Devendra Fadnavis took place after Shinde declared rebellion. In this conversation, Thackeray told Fadnavis that if Shinde is kept out, there can be talk of coming together with both, but Fadnavis was not ready for this.
That’s why BJP formed the government with Shinde
After all, why BJP chose to form the government with Shinde instead of Uddhav. The reason behind this is that in the year 2014, when the BJP-Shiv Sena government was formed in the state, the Shiv Sena used to behave like the opposition even though it was in the government. There were reports of rift between the two parties.
Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ used to publish anti-BJP editorials daily. The BJP did not want to repeat it again, so instead of Thackeray, it thought it better to form the government with Shinde.
Deepak Kesarkar also revealed that when it came to giving Z security to Shinde regarding the threat from Naxalites, the Uddhav government asked the Home Ministry not to give him this security and put Shinde’s life in danger.
Uddhav had realized
This shows that Uddhav was not liking Shinde and he already realized that Shinde could become a problem for him later on. After Uddhav Thackeray, Shinde was the tallest in Shiv Sena. In the year 2019, when it came to making Shiv Sena the Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde’s name was on everyone’s face, but later Uddhav Thackeray himself decided to become the Chief Minister.
In political circles, it is believed that Shinde had a massive support base in the state, which made him a contender for the chief minister’s post.
Many layers of political developments in Maharashtra are yet to be revealed. In the coming weeks, Uddhav Thackeray is going to give an interview to his newspaper ‘Saamana’, in which there may be some more revelations.
