In 2021-22, petrol prices increased 78 times and diesel prices increased 76 times, decreased only seven times! : Raghav Chaddha in Parliament

During the financial year 2021-22, the price of petrol in the country was increased 78 times and the price of diesel 76 times. Whereas during this period the price of petrol decreased only seven times and that of diesel 10 times. In the case of petrol, there were 280 days when there was no change. Whereas in the case of diesel, 279 days remained in this category when the prices did not change.

AAP MP Raghav Chadha had asked a question to the Modi government regarding the change in the prices of petrol and diesel. His question to the government was how many times the prices of petrol and diesel were increased during 2021-22. How much revenue the government collected under this head since 2016. The AAP MP alleges that the government increases the price of petrol and diesel at its own convenience. Even if the price is low in the global market, there is an increase in India.

In the monsoon session of Parliament, Raghav Chadha had earlier asked the government a question regarding excise duty on petrol and diesel. The central government’s reply was that it had earned Rs 16 lakh crore in this head in the last six years. Raghav Chadha said that the government used this money to repay the loans of big industrialists. He said that even if you take together the budget of many states of India, it probably will not cross the figure of Rs 16 lakh crore.

Crude oil prices had fallen last week. But in our country, the prices of petrol and diesel have been stable for almost a month now. The Center had given some relief in excise duty. The government had reduced the excise duty on petrol by Rs 8 and on diesel by Rs 6. After this petrol became cheaper by Rs 9.50 and diesel by Rs 7 per liter. But in view of the way crude oil prices are falling, the oil companies did not take any step so that the common man could get relief in inflation.

Talking about the four metros, on this day petrol is getting Rs 96.72 and diesel Rs 89.62 per liter in Delhi. Whereas petrol in Mumbai is Rs 106.35 and diesel is Rs 94.28.
