Indian women’s team reached Birmingham for Commonwealth

The Indian women’s cricket team has reached Birmingham, England for the Commonwealth Games starting this week. Team India left on Sunday late night and arrived late on Monday night. Team India also has to face Pakistan in the Commonwealth itself. Along with the cricket team, other teams including athletics, squash, table tennis have also arrived.

Cricket has been included in the Commonwealth Games after 24 years. Earlier this happened in 1998. This time only women’s cricket has got a chance, which is the first time. About 4,500 athletes from 72 countries will compete in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games to be held from 28 July to 8 August.

Competition for medals will be held on August 7

The Indian women’s cricket team for the Commonwealth Games 2022 has also been announced. Harmanpreet Kaur has been given the captaincy. The first match of cricket games in the tournament will be held on July 29. All matches will be played at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham. Gold and bronze medal matches for cricket will be played on 7 August.

8 women’s teams divided into two groups

This time 8 women’s teams of cricket have been included in the Commonwealth Games. These are divided into two groups. The top 2 teams from both these groups will directly qualify for the semi-finals. After this, there will be a battle for the gold medal in the final between the two teams.

Group A: India, Pakistan, Australia, Barbados
Group B: England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka
