Uttarakhand / Rishikesh: Case of rape in drug de-addiction center, operator shifted eight girls to Haridwar center
After registering a case of rape with a female worker in Heaven’s for Angel drug de-addiction center, Awas Vikas Colony, Rishikesh, the center operator has shifted eight young girls living here to the center located at Khanna Nagar, Ranipur, Haridwar.
The contract with the landlord expired on July 31
The reason given to the police is that the contract with the landlord was terminated on July 31. The Kotwali police has summoned Ritika Tanwar, a resident of Delhi, the center operator for investigation.
Investigation has revealed that the accused Honey Sharma runs a drug de-addiction center in Roorkee. State Women’s Commission chairperson Kusum Kandwal has asked District Magistrates Dehradun and Haridwar to constitute a committee and investigate the matter.
To get rid of drug addiction to a girl resident of Roorkee, her acquaintance admitted her to the drug de-addiction center in Rishikesh. This young man, an employee of the drug de-addiction center and a colleague of the operator, later got him work as an associate in the center itself.
This employee raped the girl inside the center. On the complaint of the victim, the Kotwali police had registered a case of rape against a youth resident of Roorkee. Records and CCTV footage of drug de-addiction center were also seized in this case. The statement of the girl will be recorded in the court today.
Raped by mixing intoxicants in cold drink
According to the Kotwali police, a girl resident of Roorkee filed a case against her own acquaintance Hanni Sharma resident of Ramnagar, Roorkee, district Haridwar on charges of rape. The girl alleges that she met Honey Sharma in Roorkee. Honey Sharma works in the drug de-addiction center operating in the housing development colony of Rishikesh, he is also said to be an associate of the center operator.
Heavens for Angel drug de-addiction center is run by another woman resident of Delhi. According to the girl, Honey Sharma got her admitted to this drug de-addiction center in September 2021 for treatment. It is alleged that two months ago, Honey Sharma raped her in a room of the de-addiction center by mixing intoxicants in a cold drink.
On regaining consciousness, he also threatened to keep his mouth shut by telling him that there were obscene photos, videos. Not only this, she was also raped inside the vehicle near the centre. After which she left this center and went back to her home.
State Women Commission chairperson Kusum Kandwal, taking cognizance of the matter, directed DIG P Renuka Devi to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. On Monday, he had to inspect the drug de-addiction center.
On taking the information, it came to know that on Monday, the operator has vacated this center. Inspector Ravi Saini, in-charge of Kotwali, told the women commission president that there was a contract with the landlord till July 31. On which the operator vacated this building on Sunday evening.
Operator Ritika Tanwar’s Khanna Nagar Ranipur Mod is also another drug de-addiction center in Haridwar. Eight girls living here have been shifted there. According to the police, the accused Honey Sharma runs another drug de-addiction center in Roorkee.
Women Commission President Kusum Kandwal said that a letter has been written to the District Magistrates Haridwar and Dehradun, asking them to constitute a committee to investigate the matter. It has also been asked to investigate whether the guidelines prescribed in the drug de-addiction center were being followed or not.
