Preparations are underway to pass the Electricity Amendment Bill 2022 in the current monsoon session of Parliament itself. In this direction, the bill is to be placed in the Lok Sabha on Monday.  Be prepared to pay higher electricity bills. This will also give a major blow to the political parties who get people’s votes by promising cheap or free electricity. This new law will increase the competition between the electricity distribution companies and  The huge debt burden of this sector will be reduced.

Many important proposals have been made in the Electricity Amendment Bill 2022.  These proposals are going to be approved after the bill is passed.

More utility companies will be allowed to operate in a circle.
The power regulator will have the freedom to fix the electricity tariff according to the market price.
Along with this, work is being done on matters like payment, process and extension of deadline.

As soon as the law comes into force, the way for the entry of more and more private companies in the power distribution sector will be ready.  With the increasing interference of private companies in this sector, the era of cheap electricity will end.  The government is trying to overcome the debt crisis of $ 75 billion of the power sector through this law.  However, even before the law was enacted, its opposition has started.  27 lakh employees of the power sector have already announced their opposition to this law.  Many political parties have also come out in the field in protest against it.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has also criticized this law.  Kejriwal tweeted this morning, ‘Today the electricity amendment bill is being brought in the Lok Sabha.  This law is very dangerous.  Due to this, instead of improving the power problem in the country, it will become more serious.  People’s suffering will increase.  Only a few companies will benefit.  I appeal to the Center not to bring it in haste.  Let us tell you that the Kejriwal government is already giving electricity on subsidy in Delhi.  Such a system has been implemented in Punjab as soon as the Aam Aadmi Party government is formed.  During the recent election campaign in Gujarat, Kejriwal has promised cheap electricity there too.

With the creation of this rule, customers with money will give priority to taking connections from private companies.

Government companies will be left with only those customers, who are running their work with the help of subsidies.

In such a situation, the power sector will be dominated by the private sector and people will have to pay expensive power tariffs.

This law will benefit private companies in the electricity distribution business of the state.
Private companies will try to increase their stake in those circles where the business of power distribution is profitable.

There may be a situation of power crisis in those areas where business is not profitable, as private companies will stay away from such

areas.
Private companies will get the freedom to decide the tariff of electricity according to their own.
