Uttarakhand / Uttarkashi : The security wall of the bridge over the lotus river collapsed

One side of the security wall collapsed due to heavy rains of the iron bridge built for the Purola-Nugaon motorway on the Kamal river of Purola village. Due to this, villagers and school students of dozens of villages including Purola village are facing huge problems in walking.
An iron foot bridge was built over the Kamal river decades ago. Which has been repaired many times. This bridge is a useful way for children to come to school for pasture, grass, wood and children from villages like Chandeli, Khaladi, Pujeli, Karda, Danmana etc., including Purola village. At the same time, there is also the main route for the movement of the cremation ground on the Kamal river and the goods train. From where people from villages like Kumola, Korna, Makhna, Kuruda, Chhada etc., including Purola market, go for the last rites. Due to the collapse of one side wall of the bridge, where the movement of the river is hampered by the surge. There is also the danger of the bridge collapsing. Due to the closure of the movement of the bridge, the villagers, including the students, have to travel long distances even for daily activities like grazing of animals and grass, charapatti etc.
Public Works Assistant Engineer PK Mishra says that on priority, the assessment of the damaged wall of the bridge has been sent to the administration for disaster reduction. Once the approval is received, the repair work will be done.
