Delhi : Cancer treatment is being done without incision in Safdarjung, thousands of patients benefited

In Safdarjung Hospital, cancer is being treated in liver, kidney, brain stroke and others by inserting only wires without incision through interventional radiology. In fact, more than two thousand patients have been successfully treated so far in the interventional radiology started at Safdarjung Hospital for the convenience of patients suffering from brain stroke, liver-kidney cancer and other diseases. To discuss the successful treatment of these patients, Safdarjung Hospital will organize a conference next month, in which radiologists from across the country will discuss interventional radiology. In this regard, Senior Resident Doctor Anuj Aggarwal said that out of the big hospitals of Delhi, this facility is available only in Safdarjung Hospital. In this method, liver cancer, kidney cancer, brain stroke, some bone cancers and other diseases are being treated by inserting wires only without incision. With the help of this technique, the patient is saved from the incision during the surgery and he recovers quickly. He said that from the last few months, if the patient comes to the hospital within 24 hours, then by this method, the blood clot in his brain can be saved from the serious problem. Apart from this, the blockage in the arteries of the legs can also be removed in time. While many times due to this problem, there is a chance of cutting up to the feet, but after this facility, the patients have benefited a lot.
Radiology clinic started
Radiology Clinic has been started in the Radiology Department. In this, doctors are doing investigation as well as treatment. This is the first hospital in Delhi to have the facility of Radiology Clinic. Patients can come here daily to get their treatment done. Dr. Anuj told that the hospital will have OPD of Endovascular IR on Monday, Female Imaging on Tuesday, Gastro on Wednesday and Neuro IR on Thursday.
Pain relief clinic started for cancer patients in RML
Palliative Care and Pain Relief Clinic has been started for cancer patients in the Department of Anesthesia of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. Here patients will be helped in a mental, physical and spiritual way along with medicine to reduce pain. RML has become the third government hospital in Delhi to start such a clinic for cancer patients. Earlier this facility is available in AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospital.
Regarding this clinic, Dr. Nandini Duggal, medical superintendent of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, says that in addition to the physical pain of the patient, doctors also counsel them on the basis of mental pain. Cancer patients have unbearable pain in the last stage. In such a situation, this clinic will prove to be very helpful in reducing their pain.
According to Dr MD Kaur, Head of the Department of Anesthesia, RML, a scale ranging from zero to 10 is used to find out the intensity of pain in patients. Doctors who specialize in measuring pain ask patients to rate the intensity of their pain on the basis of this scale.
