Uttarakhand : Big action in bribery case, state tax officer Anil Kumar sacked

In the case of bribery, the State Tax Commissioner has taken a big action. State tax officer Anil Kumar has been sacked. Vigilance had registered a case in the matter after the news was published in Dainik Jagran. He was arrested earlier also, but was serving again after his release on bail. In the year 2020, a sensational case of corruption came to light in the State Goods and Services Tax Department (State GST). An officer posted at Dehradun’s Asharodi checkpost (mobile squad) was accused of extortion by stopping a freighter. The officer had also deposited an amount of 20 thousand rupees in an account. The businessman of Hanuman Chowk, who ordered the goods, had lodged a complaint in this matter on the CM portal.

In the complaint filed on the CM portal on behalf of Hanuman Chowk businessman Anil Mata, it was written that on February 15, he had ordered the garbage bags used in hospitals from Hisar. When their cargo vehicle (HR 39C 7088) reached Asharodi checkpost late in the night, an officer posted there stopped the vehicle. The goods were being ordered on e-way bill. However, the Part-B of the e-way bill was not filed till the stipulated time (1:30 pm). The merchant who shipped the goods also updated it around 3 am.

It is alleged that even after this the concerned officer did not leave the vehicle and forcibly took out Rs 9500 from the pocket of the driver. Also more money was demanded. The driver had called the merchant sending the goods and told the whole situation and also got the officer talking to the merchant who sent the goods. When the businessman said that the driver did not have any more money, the officer gave a bank account number. The businessman had transferred 20 thousand rupees from Google Pay on the account number. The officer then allowed the vehicle to proceed.
