Dr. Justice Dhananjay Yashwant Chandrachud (born 11 November 1959) is currently a judge of the Supreme Court of India, and will become the Chief Justice of India from 9 November 2022 until his retirement on 10 November 2024 following the elevation of Justice Uday Umesh Lalit. He is a former Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court and a former Judge of the Bombay High Court. Chandrachud was appointed as a judge in the Supreme Court of India on 13 May 2016.
