Uttar Pradesh Madrasa Education Council came on the backfoot

  • The state government is conducting a survey of unrecognized madrassas. There are 7500 unrecognized madrasas in the state.
  • Among them is the Darul Uloom Madrasa of Deoband.
  • After the news was published on Sunday, the chairman of the board issued a statement saying that to debate on the loyalty and education of Darul Uloom Deoband, which itself has recognized more than 4500 madrassas across the country, is like showing a lamp to the sun.
  • In 1857, when the first war of independence was fought and the British closed all the centers of education, Darul Uloom, Deoband was established after that.
  • Dr. Javed said that since 156 years this institution is known for its education and ideology in the country and the world.
  • There is no need to take recognition from Uttar Pradesh Madrasa Board for an institution of such a large stature which is promoting education by giving itself recognition.
  • Focus on making quality education of Madrasa children

Board Chairman Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed Javed said that this survey is to get information about new madrassas opened in the state so that the government can also include children studying there in the mainstream of the country by providing quality education to them. The Madrasa Board has not recognized any madrasa in the last seven years. Therefore, giving recognition to unrecognized madrassas after the survey is also an objective.
