Iran: Worked as a woman who came to the bank without wearing a hijab, then got a manager’s job
According to Iran’s state media, an employee of the bank has been dismissed from the job after serving a woman who came without a hijab. The government has taken this action at a time when anti-government demonstrations against the compulsory hijab in Iran have shaken the country.
According to reports, this bank manager in Qom province, near Tehran, has been fired on the orders of the provincial governor. Most of the banks in Iran are under the control of the government and the Hijab law is strictly enforced in the banks.
In September, 22-year-old Mahsa Amini died in Iran after allegedly being beaten up in police custody. Amini was detained by the moral police for not wearing the hijab. Demonstrations against the hijab and the government have continued in Iran since Amini’s death.
