Uttarakhand Government clamps down on conversion, saints welcome the decision

The Pushkar Singh Dhami government has tightened the noose on conversion in Uttarakhand and has now made the law more stringent. The Uttarakhand Religion Freedom (Amendment) Bill was passed by a majority in the House on Wednesday in the presence of the opposition. On this occasion, MLAs of the main opposition party Congress were also present in the house. Although he did not support this bill.

Law more strict regarding conversion

▪️With the passing of the bill, the law regarding conversion has been made more strict in the state.

▪️Both punishment and imprisonment have been increased for violating the law.

▪️In cases of mass conversion, the punishment has been increased to 10 years and the maximum fine has been increased to Rs 50,000.

▪️The court will also be able to provide appropriate compensation of up to five lakh rupees to the victim of religious conversion from the accused.

Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad Niranjani has supported the decision of the state government to enact strict laws to stop religious conversion in Uttarakhand.

National President of Akhara Parishad and President of Mansa Devi Temple Trust, Niranjani Akhara’s secretary Shrimahant Ravindra Puri Maharaj, while welcoming this decision of Uttarakhand government, has thanked Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for this, as well as he has urged other state governments to do the same. Only steps have been demanded to be taken.
