Uttarakhand : Women’s reservation and strict conversion law will prove to be a milestone for mother power empowerment and demographic balance – Manveer Chauhan

The BJP has described the Women’s Reservation and Strict Conversion Act passed by the House as a milestone for mother power empowerment and demographic balance. Party state media in-charge Manveer Chauhan, while talking to the journalists, said that under the guidance of PM Modi and the leadership of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, the state is moving fast towards the target of @25 with the pace of all-round development. Addressing a press conference held in Tehri city, the state media in-charge said, information about the two historic bills passed by the Vidhan Sabha and new dimensions achieved by the state in the areas of economic, administrative, law and order and social harmony through you. This is our effort. He said that after the unfortunate Corona period, once again the state’s GDP is touching new heights, we are second in the country in low unemployment rate, per capita income has reached 2 lakh 65 thousand, along with road, rail and air routes. Along with this, Uttarakhand is continuously moving forward by connecting Kedarnath, Shri Hemkund etc. with the construction of ropeways. Similarly, the BJP government is doing the work of providing health to everyone through Atal Ayushman, a roof for living through Atal Awas and provision of food through Garib Kalyan Yojana. The Dhami government is actively engaged in the direction of making Uttarakhand the best state by 2025, considering the wish of Baba Kedar, which came out from the head of Prime Minister Modi, in this episode, senior bureaucrats and ministers also brainstormed on the topic of Uttarakhand @ 25, from which ideas emerged. Will be done in making future plans.

Manveer Singh Chauhan said that the Pushkar Dhami government, following the policy of zero tolerance regarding corruption, has put about two dozen accused behind bars by conducting SITE investigations in many cases, which is the harshest action taken in the history so far. On the other hand, while taking fair and strictest action on the tragic incident of Ankita murder, arrest of the culprits in 24 hours, recovery of the dead body in 48 hours, imposed gangster on all the accused, instructed to run the case in the fast track court. Similarly, showing sensitivity in Delhi’s Chhawla episode, took all necessary steps, including talking to the Union Minister of State for Home, to get justice for the family members of Uttarakhand’s daughter.

Chouhan said that under the leadership of successful and popular Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, two very important and necessary historical bills have been passed for Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand Religious Amendment Bill for the purpose of stopping conversion by force or inducement, which was absolutely necessary to maintain the cultural form and demographic balance of Devbhoomi. Second, the “Horizontal Women’s Reservation Bill” which proved to be a milestone in the direction of improving the standard of living of the state’s Ada population (mother power) and giving them their full rights, which will increase the economic capacity of the state’s mother power and participation in social works. And there is an effort to give respect to their contribution and self-respect. Uttarakhand is a land of gods and like the rest of the country, the incidents of forced or fraudulent conversion were becoming a challenge to the cultural, social and demographic nature of the state. The need for a strict law was being felt for the purpose of tightening the reins on the people involved in this crime under the symbol of this problem and conspiracy. The House has amended the already existing Uttarakhand Freedom of Religion Act, 2018 for the right to freedom of religion, under Articles 25, 26, 27 and 28 of the Constitution of India. In this bill, a provision of imprisonment ranging from minimum three years to maximum 10 years has been made for those found guilty of conversion by force, fraud or inducement. Not only this, making it a non-bailable offence, a fine of Rs 50,000 was imposed on the guilty. Under this act, the aggrieved party may have to pay a fine of up to Rs 5 lakh to the guilty, which will be different from the fine. After the enactment of this Uttarakhand Religious Freedom (Amendment) Act, Uttarakhand will be the first state in the country to have a provision of 3 to 10 years of punishment under the most stringent anti-conversion law.

Mother power has played a big role in the formation of Uttarakhand state and the BJP government and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had already decided that in this state with adverse geographical conditions, mother power should get the benefit of horizontal reservation. On November 4, 2022, the High Court upheld the reservation by lobbying through SLP in the Supreme Court on the special initiative of Chief Minister Dhami against the High Court’s stay on women’s reservation since 2006. Now passing this bill in the House and giving it a legal form shows the gratitude of the present BJP government towards mother power.
