Maharashtra: Why did the bow and arrow slip from Uddhav Thackeray’s hand? Election commission handed over real Shiv Sena to Shinde faction

In a major blow to Uddhav Thackeray, the Election Commission on Friday (February 17) handed over the Shiv Sena’s name and election symbol, bow and arrow, to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s faction. That means the real Shiv Sena has now gone to Shinde.

The Election Commission said that it has given the decision in favor of Shinde faction because of the support of 40 MLAs out of total 67 MLAs in the assembly. At the same time, the Shinde faction has more MPs in the Parliament. The commission said that 13 MPs are with the Shinde faction, while 7 are with Uddhav Thackeray.

The commission said that out of the 55 winning candidates of the Shiv Sena in the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, about 76 per cent votes were cast in favor of the MLAs supporting Eknath Shinde. Uddhav Thackeray faction MLAs got 23.5 percent of the votes cast in favor of the winning candidates of Shiv Sena in the 2019 assembly elections in Maharashtra.

‘Ideas win’
Giving the first reaction, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde said that the ideas of Balasaheb Thackeray have won. Shinde has been claiming earlier also that he is the real Shiv Sena of Balasaheb Thackeray. This is the victory of democracy and our supporters. Shinde faction spokesperson Ajay Borsate said that truth can be upset, but not defeated. The Election Commission has taken the right decision.

What did Sanjay Raut say?
Sanjay Raut said that we will take a new symbol. We will once again show a new Shiv Sena in the public court. This is the murder of democracy. Will also fight the battle of the law. This government has shed crores of rupees like water, it is visible how far that water has reached. We don’t have to worry because people are with us.

Please tell that Eknath Shinde parted ways with Uddhav Thackeray and formed the government with the BJP. Shinde himself became the Chief Minister of the state. Since then, a fight was going on between the Uddhav faction and the Shinde faction regarding the real Shiv Sena.
