Delhi: The last rites of the victim were performed, the cause of death was revealed in the postmortem report.

  1. Rape has not been confirmed in the postmortem report of the girl who lost her life in the incident that took place on Sunday night in Kanjhawala. The Delhi Police official said that the postmortem of the deceased girl was done at Maulana Azad Medical College. Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Sagar Preet Hooda said that a witness to the incident has come forward, who was with the girl at the time of the incident. He told that his statement has been recorded under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. She was riding a scooty with the girl at the time of the incident and she did not get hurt. He told that she was probably scared and that is why she left the girl on the spot and ran away.
  4. In the CCTV footage received by the police, after attending a New Year’s party, the girl is seen leaving a hotel at around quarter to two in the night. She was wearing a pink T-shirt and her friend was wearing a red T-shirt. Initially her friend was driving the scooty and the girl was sitting behind. According to the police, later in the footage, the girl is seen driving the scooty and her friend is seen sitting behind.
  1. Police said that her friend had minor injuries and fled from the spot after the incident, while the girl got trapped under the car which dragged her away. According to the police, the car dragged him for about 12 kilometers and later his naked body was found on the road in Kanjhawala. The girl was the only earner in her family.
  2. On the instructions of Home Minister Amit Shah, the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday sought a detailed report from the Delhi Police in the matter. Acting immediately, the Delhi Police constituted an inquiry committee headed by Special Commissioner Shalini Singh and asked them to submit the inquiry report at the earliest.
  3. Special Commissioner of Police Shalini Singh along with her team inspected the 12 km long road from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala, where the 20-year-old girl was dragged from the car. A senior police officer said that as part of the interrogation, Singh along with his team visited the crime scene on Monday night and inspected the road in outer Delhi where the girl was dragged after being trapped under the car.
  4. According to sources, the primary responsibility of the team is to analyze the route and suggest improvements to prevent such incidents from happening in future. It will also be seen whether the police followed all standard operating procedures and whether they responded appropriately at the time of the incident. On Tuesday, some officials reached the Ministry of Home Affairs with the postmortem report.
  5. A delegation of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators met Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora on Tuesday and demanded strictest punishment for those involved in the Kanjhawala incident. They also demanded the dismissal of the district Deputy Commissioner of Police, allegedly to protect the accused. A case was registered against the five people allegedly traveling in the car under sections including culpable homicide not amounting to murder. All are in police custody.
