‘We mishandled the situation…’, says Tata Group chairman on Air India flight urination incident

Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran has reacted to a passenger urinating on a woman in an Air India international flight. He has said that the response of Air India should have been faster in this matter. In a statement N Chandrasekaran has said that we missed to address this situation in the way we should have done. In this situation, we could not react the way we should have reacted.
Earlier, the DGCA, a government body that monitors the aviation industry, had reprimanded Air India in this matter. After this, this statement of Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran has come. He said that Air India’s response in this matter should have been swift and immediate.
Let us tell you that on November 26 last year, a drunk man allegedly urinated on a female co-passenger in an Air India flight from New York to New Delhi. The victim is a senior citizen and she was above 70 years of age. This incident happened in business class. In this case, the accused Shankar Mishra was arrested by the Delhi Police from Bangalore on Saturday.
There was a lot of hue and cry about the incident in the media. Reacting to the entire development, N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Group said, “The incident of Air India flight AI102 on November 26, 2022, is a matter of concern for me and my Air India colleagues. has been a matter of personal anguish for Air India’s response should have been much quicker. We failed to address this situation the way it should have been done.”
Let us tell you that Air India, which was once a government sector airline, was bought by the Tata Group from the Government of India just a few months back. N Chandrasekaran said that the Tata Group and Air India are committed to the safety of their passengers and crew with utmost sincerity. We will review each process to prevent or resolve any incidents of this nature.
The airline said on Wednesday that it had banned the accused passenger from flying for 30 days and set up an internal panel to investigate whether there was lapse on the part of the crew in handling the situation.
Explain that the DGCA had condemned the incident and said that Air India’s conduct in dealing with the incident was “unprofessional”. The DGCA has issued show cause notices to the airline, its director of in-flight services and the flight crew.
The matter came to light when the victim Mila wrote a letter to Tata Group Chairman Chandrasekaran sharing her horrifying experience during that flight.
