Wrestlers who win gold in the wrestling arena have a challenge to overcome in political riots

Wrestlers who have made India proud in wrestling have to protest against their own federation at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. Why has such a situation arisen that wrestlers who have won gold in the wrestling arena are now forced to face the challenge of crossing the political ‘dangal’. On Wednesday, wrestling players had made serious allegations against the ‘Indian Wrestling Federation’ at Jantar Mantar. The process of meeting and giving assurance continued on Thursday also, but the players did not get any concrete assurance from the government. As a result, the players refused to lift their strike. Based on the conversation with the players and the coach who reached Jantar Mantar, many aspects of this dispute came to the fore. Many things have been seen in it like the arbitrary of the Federation, sexual exploitation of women players, corruption and discrimination regarding facilities.
It was no longer necessary for the players to remain silent
Wrestler Somveer told amarujala.com in this regard, there is some truth in the allegations leveled against the Wrestling Federation. Cases of corruption are already coming. It is a different matter that the players did not make this matter public in view of their future. When cases like sexual abuse with women players came to the fore, it was no longer necessary for the players to remain silent. There is truth in what Vinesh Phogat has said. No coach can dare to do anything wrong with a female player without the consent of the Federation President. By removing the president of the federation, the government should conduct an impartial inquiry. The reverse is happening here. President Brij Bhushan Singh is saying that the players who have reached Jantar Mantar are only three percent. What does it mean to say this. Do they want wrestlers to come here and show their strength? Forcibly forcing the wrestlers to be a part of the political riot.
Wrestlers are being intimidated, career will be ruined
Arjuna awardee Somveer as well as wrestlers Amit, Ravi and Sakshi Malik said, wrestlers are being threatened not to come to Jantar Mantar. Those who are young wrestlers have been told that they must look at their future career before going to Delhi. Their selection process will not take place at Jantar Mantar. There are many irregularities in the players’ camp. There is a lot of confusion in how much money has come from which organization and how much has been spent on the players. Money takes a big cut. Women wrestlers are abused in the camp. If for some reason an international player does not play a national tournament, then he is banned. Anyone who is a selector or a coach has no idea how long an injury takes to heal. Sometimes the weight is taken for many competitions in three months. Where is the rule that they make weights for wrestling at six in the morning? Competitions are held in the country at such a distance that the player has to reach there on loan. The hotel expenses are also borne by the players themselves. Federation officials and many coaches take their families with them on tours.
Sports Ministry spends money, no evaluation
Gyan Singh, senior sports officer (retired), wrestling chief coach and Dhyanchand awardee, said, the problem of sexual harassment has just come up. No one was ready to speak on this. These players have shown courage. The Sports Ministry is spending money, but no one evaluates it. This evaluation is very important regarding the coach. The player who wins in the international match must play in the national game. I am with the Federation in this matter. Although the players are treated very poorly by the federation, there is truth in it. Sportspersons are being forced from the wrestling arena to enter the fray of politics. Does the Federation want that there should be ruckus by gathering people at Jantar Mantar? When the allegation has been leveled, the government should have got an inquiry done immediately. The chairman should be removed till the inquiry is done. According to Gyan Singh, the federation receives money from many sources. It is not spent on players. It has cuts at various places. This is where corruption starts. Here the matter has reached to sexual exploitation.
