Uttarakhand: Yamunotri ropeway will change the picture of the area, the long awaited demand has been fulfilled – Manveer Chauhan

Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for signing the MoU of Yamunotri Ropeway, the BJP has described it as a game changer for the entire region. The party’s state media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan, while describing the project as promoting the local tourism business, termed it as a victory of the efforts of the regional people since 2011. Expressing happiness over the signing of the memorandum of understanding today regarding the ropeway to be built at a cost of about 166 crores, Chouhan expressed hope that the process of its construction will start soon and its construction in future will facilitate the tourists coming here, especially the elderly and differently-abled. For this, a tough uphill climb of 5 kms will turn into an easy journey of 15 minutes. With the construction of the ropeway, there will be a record increase in the number of devotees coming to Yamunotri Dham, which will take the business of the local people to new heights.

Giving information, Chouhan said, keeping in view the demand of the local people, the foundation stone of this ropeway was laid in the year 2011 by the then BJP National President Nitin Gadkari and the then Chief Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank. However, the project could not be started due to constraints in the acquisition of forest land and the subsequent Congress government’s heelahwali. This 3.7 kilometer long ropeway will connect Yamunotri Dham with its winter resort Kharsali after the central government gives its nod to this much-awaited Yamunotri Ropeway project. Apart from this, the journey of 2 to 3 hours for the devotees is now going to change in minutes. Along with the convenience provided to the devotees, it will also open up immense possibilities of employment for the local people as parking, residential arrangements, restaurant construction will also be done in it.

Chouhan has also expressed special gratitude to all the regional people, especially the villagers of Kharsali, who have given about 14880 square yards of land for the project.
