Uttarakhand: In Graphic Era University, social media is the biggest weapon for all kinds of promotion-income-progress, officers of 21 departments are taking training in the workshop

In the workshop on social media at Graphic Era Hill University, experts said that today this medium has become a very strong medium for any kind of promotion-progress and earning. Officials of 21 departments of the state are learning the tricks of its proper use. While inaugurating this event of the School of Management, Dr. Sanjay Jasola, Director General, Graphic Era Deemed University, said that in this two-day workshop, government officials will learn to use social media and internet correctly and effectively. Citing the example of Kodak Company, he said that those who do not learn new technology with time, are out of the race.

He said that today it is a necessity to have a presence in social media and government officials should know the best use of social media for maximum publicity of government’s policies and to reach the general public. Dr. Subhash Gupta, Professor Journalism and Director Instructor, Graphic Era said that social media can save both pocket and life. While on the one hand social media can be used effectively to take government schemes to the people, on the other hand, in case of disasters, people and government machinery can be alerted on time by its use.

Subhash gave the example that a viral video of the spate in Rishi-Ganga and Dhauli river in February-2021 not only alerted the people but also gave the government an opportunity to take timely protective measures. School of Management teachers and training programs Convener Shyam explained the officers the process of creating organic and paid social media pages of their departments on social media.

He emphasized on the sensitivity analysis and text mining of the comments of the people who came on social media. By properly analyzing the reviews of the people, they were also explained the right way to use the image building of the departments. Jitendra Chauhan made a presentation on the extraordinary work done by the government departments through proper use of social media.

Officers from 21 departments including Rural Development, Sericulture, Agriculture and Jal Vidyut Nigam of the state government are involved in the training programme. The program was coordinated by Shweta Chauhan. Dr. R. Gowri, Vice Chancellor, Graphic Era Hill University, Dr. Roopa Khanna, Head, School of Management, Dr. Himanshu Kargeti, Dr. Ajay Saini, Smita Kothari and other teachers were also present in the programme.
