IND vs AUS: Rohit Sharma told Delhi Test very special in Border-Gavaskar Trophy
After winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2-1, Indian captain Rohit Sharma said his team’s comeback in the second Test in Delhi was something they will remember. He appreciated the performance of the players for retaining the trophy.
In the second Test in Delhi, India took a one-run lead against Australia and with the match getting interesting, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin broke the back of the visiting team with six wickets each to set India a target of 115 runs. Which India had completed with 6 wickets.
Rohit said after the fourth Test match, “With the 2-1 result, in the first two Tests we knew how important it was to start the series. I think the Delhi Test match was something that I am really proud of.” . We were far behind in the match and were making a comeback. From that situation, we showed the spirit of comeback.
Although India lost the Third Test in Indore and drew the Fourth Test in Ahmedabad, they managed to win the series. Secured a place in the World Test Championship final, where they will face Australia at The Oval from June 7 to 11
The Indian captain further said, “It was a great match from the beginning. All Test matches had something for everyone. We understand the importance of the series and the opposition. After playing good cricket for more than 40 days, we are here for the results.” We are very happy with which we are standing. Challenges came to the fore but we responded to them.
Australia’s stand-in captain Steve Smith admitted that losing seven wickets in the first session of the third day in Delhi ultimately cost them the chance to win the series, but he is proud of the fight shown by his team in the second half of the series.
