Conjunctivitis (eye flu) infection has increased rapidly in the city after rain and hailstorm. Patients are coming to OPD daily. This worries the doctors. Dr. Rajendra Prakash Maurya, Ophthalmologist at BHU, says that such a problem happened 27 years ago. Then it seemed like an outbreak. A person who has this problem can infect three people. Vigilance and prevention will save from infection. If there is negligence, you can get infected.
Patients increased in OPD
Circle Hospital Kabirchaura: 100 patients are coming daily in OPD of Ophthalmology Department. Ten of these are troubled by eye infection. Ophthalmologist Dr. VS Tripathi told that the problem has increased due to change in weather. There is a problem of pain, itching, redness and mud in the eyes. Avoid rubbing the eyes. Keep washing the eyes repeatedly with water. Have to go out wearing dark glasses only. This will not increase the infection rapidly.
Patients coming daily
BHU Hospital: 250 patients are coming daily in OPD of Ophthalmology Department. Of these, about 20 are troubled by eye flu i.e. conjunctivitis. Chairman Prof. Prashant Bhushan told that for the last one week more patients are coming. Generally this problem occurs in rainy season. There is no serious disease, but if precautions are not taken then the problem increases later. People affected by eye infection should avoid going to crowded places. Eyes should not be touched repeatedly with fingers. Eye flu is cured in seven to ten days.
More than 60 students living in the hostel are victims
In BHU’s Rajaram and another hostel, more than 60 students are in the grip of eye flu. There is more problem of redness, itching and pain in the eyes of the students. Many students reached OPD of Ophthalmology Department on Monday with Health Diary. The doctors examined the eyes, then prescribed the necessary medicines. Also advised to be careful. Head of Ophthalmology Department Prof. A team headed by Prashant Bhushan is continuously monitoring the students. Posters have been pasted outside the hostel for awareness.
