Uttar Pradesh: BJP leader sold the land to the police on fake documents! Police line was to be built, leader arrested

A local BJP leader was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly selling land to the police for Rs 2 crore with the help of fake documents for the construction of police lines. The accused had already taken a loan of Rs 78 lakh on the land. Superintendent of Police (SP) Ilamaran G. said that a case of forgery has been registered against BJP leader Om Prakash alias Prakash Mishra.

Payment of Rs 1.97 crore received from Amethi Police

The SP also said that the accused had taken a loan from Bank of India by mortgaging his land. Later, through fake documents, he sold the land to the police to build a police line. The land is situated in Chauhanpur village under Sadar Tehsil in Gauriganj, Amethi. Mishra had executed the sale deed of 0.253 square meters of land on July 27, 2017. Before selling the land, he had taken a loan of Rs 78 lakh from the bank by mortgaging the land. After executing the sale deed, the BJP leader received a payment of Rs 1.97 crore from the Amethi police. During the registry, Prakash did not give any information about whether he had any debt.

The matter came to light in January this year when the Recovery Officer of Debts Recovery Tribunal, Allahabad (Prayagraj) sent a recovery notice. A case has been registered against Mishra on the basis of a complaint lodged by the Constable Inspector at Police Line Amethi. Amethi BJP district president Durgesh Tripathi said Mishra is a party worker and a case has been registered against him. He said the law will take its own course and action will be taken against Mishra if found guilty.
